Meet Sara

Sara Aubrey

I grew up in southern California immersed in water and surrounded by family and friends. My father was a zookeeper and my mother a teacher for children with special needs. This instilled in me a great love and respect for all life on Earth, as well as a passion to explore it. I received a bachelor’s in Animal Biology and Conservation from the University of California, Davis. Here I tempered my scientific studies with courses on culture and politics from around the world. After several years working on biodiversity studies in remote regions across the planet, I held a position at an oceanographic lab where I became interested in fisheries management. This led me to graduate school in the Virgin Islands where I received a Masters in Marine Science and Natural Resource Management. While completing my studies I opened my own business in Puerto Rico and focused on community conservation projects. Erosion and flooding caused by Hurricane Maria sent me back home to southern California where I began teaching environmental studies and working to develop fishing gear recycling programs across the United States. My experience working to improve waste management programs, as well as my love of nutrition and healthy soils has organically landed me in a position with EcoNomics Inc as a program implementation coordinator. I enjoy working to help people and planet alike and am excited to connect with my community to preserve and protect California’s natural resources.

Favorite Quote:

"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.”
